Learning Journal Entry #1

What did I learn?- So far for this learning module I have learned a lot about the history of the Internet, from the past to the present. My slide show presentation was on Vint Cerf and Robert Kahn, two very influential men in Internet history.  Thus they have been dubbed "fathers of the Internet." In contrast to that I also learned about new advances in technology from the course cast of the week.
I learned new terminology and different methods to connect to the internet from reading chapter 1 in the textbook.

I feel like I put a lot of effort into learning module 1. I was very interested in the course cast and did a lot of research on a tech item discussed. Also I liked the way mine and my partners group project turned out. Although I wish I had done a little better on the cyber lesson 1.

New terminology

  • Packets- Small units of data separated from sending computer.
  • ARPANET-  First network of computers.
  • Microblogging- An online messaging format that resembles a combination of blogging and instant messaging and involves broadcasting brief messages to a public Web site or computers to private subscribers.
  • Cloud computing-  Web- based software and services that are accessed over the Internet using a Web browser as the user interface.
